Wild Turkey Rye Whiskey dances smoothly in the mouth and is very intense in taste, has an oily, full character and wonderfully expresses the typical spiciness of rye. The roots of Kentucky Straight Bourbon Wild Turkey date back to 1855, when the Ripy Distillery was founded in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Austin Nichols has been the owner of the distillery since 1980, but has been part of the company Campari since 2009. Under the label Wild Turkey a variety of Bourbon variations with different alcohol content is offered, as well as this Rye whiskey. The name of the whiskey is supposedly due to the fact that former Distillery Manager Thomas McCarthy once took a bottle of it to turkey hunting and enthusiastically asked his friends for more of this turkey whiskey.
