CONNEMARA 12 Years Peated Malt Irish Whiskey 70 cl / 40 % Irland

This Irish whiskey makes it up to the world-famous Scottish single malts and relies on a peaty-smoky flavor.

The Connemara region of Ireland is a must-see for travelers as it provides an interesting contrast between green valleys with many small lakes, mystical moorland and rugged mountain ranges. The Kilbeggan distillery, on the other hand, is located in the heart of the Irish lowlands, surrounded by a network of pastures, meadows and fields, and is considered the country's oldest licensed whiskey distillery. It was founded in 1757. Close to the Northern Irish border, on a kind of peninsula and only one kilometer from the beach, the company has been running a second distillery since 1987 called Cooley - here come all five varieties of the Connemara brand. To illustrate the origin of the award-winning Peated Whiskey, the 40% spirit was bottled in a green translucent bottle. Their peaty flavor is exceptional in that it is usually the signature for Scottish single malt whiskeys. De facto, the Connemara 12 years Peated is the only Irish whiskey that looks like peat smoke. Anyway, the Connemara not only tastes of peat, but also of sweet fruits, almonds and marzipan.
