Château de la Gardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape AC 2021 Red Wine 150 cl – A balanced, fruity cuvée, ruby red with slight violet reflections. The rather powerful, multi-layered bouquet is dominated by cherry aromas, followed by some red blackcurrant and a hint of coffee. On the palate, it is very aromatic, dry, with pleasant tannins and a harmonious, soft and full-bodied structure. The powerful finish reveals the full fruit once again, complemented by some cocoa and chocolate notes.

About Château de la Gardine
Château de la Gardine is a major contributor to the renown of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The Brunel family has been making wine here since 1670, but it was not until after the Second World War that Gaston Brunel founded the estate as it is today. It comprises 55 hectares each in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes-du-Rhône Villages appellations. A few years ago, the Brunel family acquired Château Saint-Roch in Rocquemaure on the western bank of the Rhône, one of the finest producers in the Lirac appellation.
The Region
The Rhône is highly significant for viticulture. It connects four highly distinct wine-growing regions in terms of climate, topography and grape varieties: the southern and northern Rhône, the central area around the tributary Drôme, and the area east of the southern Rhône. In the north, a continental climate prevails, with harsh winters and hot summers. Here, almost exclusively Syrah – the only permitted red grape variety – and the white Viognier are grown on steep slopes with granitic soils; the more prestigious wine-growing areas such as Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie are located here. The south, facing the sea, benefits from a Mediterranean climate and sandy, rocky soils. Most wines there are cuvées made from Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, which are also vinified in the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape area, among others.
