About Celliers du Chablais

In Aigle, in the heart of the Chablais region, this traditional cooperative winery produces classic Vaudois wines as well as surprising, modern, innovative, and award-winning wines with great passion. Celliers du Chablais purchased a large portion of the vineyards around the world-famous Château d’Aigle from General Henri Guisan. The grapes from 135 winemakers, who keep their yields low for quality reasons and harvest traditionally by hand, are processed with a focus on natural methods. The unique terroir is responsible for the floral and mineral notes, and the Celliers du Chablais wines owe their intense fruit aromas to the many hours of sunshine.

The Region

Wine has been one of the most important cultural assets in the Canton of Vaud for over 1,000 years, and here, in the home of the Chasselas grape, twice as much white wine is produced as red. The wine-growing region on the northern shore of Lake Geneva consists of three areas: In the Chablais, aromatic, racy, and powerful wines are created on stony soils under the influence of the Foehn wind. In the very warm Lavaux region, the wines are floral, fruity, and dense with a velvety quality, while La Côte, located in between, benefits from the protection of the Jura mountains and the moderating influence of the lake, which produces wines of great finesse on the gravelly soils near the water.
